Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 H5 does not want to boot from SD

The last time I've used this board was around December 2019. Building images or downloaded from Armbian.com and burning them on a SD card worked fine. Now i'm struggling to get it to boot from SD.

All of them won't get passed "Starting kernel"

Double checked that the SD card reader switch was not broken according to this link

 

Switch is working fine.

 

Am at a loss here. Can someone shed some light on howto resolve this. From the serial log it seems it wants to boot from emmc

You should change "verbosity" to "7" in /boot/armbianEnv.txt to be able to see more details after "Starting kernel".

So it seems it does boot from SD, but hangs somewhere during kernel loading. 

 

Could the Orange Pi be broken ?

If you have switched the sd card as well as the power source and cable and somebody else with the same board can boot the same image flawless....then well the board might be broken.

Would be my guess as well. But now something strange happened. Loaded an image for a Orange Pi Zero Plus (not Plus2 H5) and it booted. To be clear my board is definitely a Orange Pi Zero Plus2 H5

looks like my issue is not related because I don't see any starting kernel message.
