SHA_ndy Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Is it possible to upgrade my running armbian server version to the desktop one? Thanks...
zador.blood.stained Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Yes, possible in theory if you are using prebuilt 5.20 images, but there is no automation/scripts for this process yet. I'm assuming you want to have hardware accelerated video decoding and not just any desktop in general.
SHA_ndy Posted September 29, 2016 Author Posted September 29, 2016 So I have to switch manually and configure my files again...no problem
SHA_ndy Posted September 29, 2016 Author Posted September 29, 2016 But any desktop would do it for me in the first step...
Igor Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 You can try this: http://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Fine-Tuning/#how-to-upgrade-into-simple-desktop-environment But no 3D or video playing ...
araczkowski Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 I would like to try to upgrade into simple desktop the Orange Pi Zero 2+ H3 but the link pointed by @Igor doesn't work, any suggestion how to do this upgrade/switch? PS There is no desktop version for Orange Pi Zero 2+ H3 yet
manuti Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Is not tested with current armbian, but in the past the solution is more or less this: sudo apt-get -y install xorg lightdm xfce4 tango-icon-theme gnome-icon-theme sudo reboot And take into account all the Know issues noted in the download page of your board: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2-h3/ Better use the oficial desktop image provided by @Igor
araczkowski Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 thanks @manuti I'm going to check this and post back the result
araczkowski Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I'm writing this post from Orange Pi Zero 2+ H3 so it works I downloaded the desktop image from "other download options and archive" In my opinion the Ubuntu desktop – legacy kernel can be added to the "Orange Pi Zero 2+ H3" download page During the installation I had only one problem with USB OTG - I will describe it in detail in separate thread. PS I'm traing to switch the device in my project from OPiPC+ to PPiZero2+H3(because of the bluetooth and small size) I will share the experiences. Thanks again @Igor the Armbian is awesome! 2
