  1. The overlay_prefix in armbianEnv.txt is not defined so I added overlay_prefix=sun50i-h616. Then I get: I was hoping that i2c3 would be there, but only the following exist. Who decides what goes into the overlays? root@orangepizero3:/boot# ls -al dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4203 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-fixup.scr -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 268 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-ir.dtbo -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 512 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-light.dtbo -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 339 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-mcp2515.dtbo -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 661 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-spidev0_0.dtbo -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 661 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-spidev1_0.dtbo -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 661 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-spidev1_1.dtbo -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 661 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-spidev1_2.dtbo -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 808 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-spi-spidev.dtbo -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 616 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-tft35_spi.dtbo -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 272 Jan 4 13:23 dtb-6.7.0-rc7-edge-sunxi64/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h616-ws2812.dtbo
  2. Hi, I want to make step by step and I am reading all post that I can't, but I have not information about this. I can use linux commands, but I am a newbie. I have download and flash a micro sd as this links steps (I think there are the same what I have read in several posts here: https://i12bretro.github.io/tutorials/0269.html Firmware donwloaded from https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17106-installation-instructions-for-tv-boxes-with-amlogic-cpus (https://es.sbcmirror.org/dl/aml-s9xx-box/archive/) This one: Armbian_23.11.1_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.1.63_xfce_desktop.img.xz Checked SHA256 And flash Boot is ok with armbian. Yesterday I had problem to boot in android after taking off the micro sd card, but today I was preparing to record you some photos and .... android boots, so no problem here. So next step is backup android partition just in case. I have a Mini MXIII-II with 2gb and 16gb emmc S905X So, as my sd card is only 8gb, I plug a 16gb usb to my tv box. This is my situation: 1. u-boot correctly choosen 2. extlinux/extlinux.conf is this: LABEL Armbian LINUX /Image INITRD /uInitrd #FDT /dtb/amlogic/meson-gxbb-p200.dtb FDT /dtb/amlogic/meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb #FDT /dtb/amlogic/meson-gxl-s905w-tx3-mini.dtb #FDT /dtb/amlogic/meson-gxm-q200.dtb #FDT /dtb/amlogic/meson-g12a-x96-max.dtb #FDT /dtb/amlogic/meson-g12b-odroid-n2.dtb append root=UUID=b2d62f8f-4a4c-49bb-a09e-779ec9099bb9 rootflags=data=writeback console=ttyAML0,115200n8 console=tty0 rw no_console_suspend consoleblank=0 fsck.fix=yes fsck.repair=yes net.ifnames=0 splash plymouth.ignore-serial-consoles 3. Some information of my boot with the armbian sd card: ddbr doesn't detect emmc, but I think that I can see it in lsblk: mmcblk1, can't I? I am newbie, so probably I need something about mount or something like that? Or there is also something wrong in extlinux.conf (append root line?) ? Thanks a lot for your support. After I can make the backup, I will try to install from SD card to EMMC. Then I will solve the problem about audio. I understand that once I have "linux" installed in emmc I can boot with any bootable usb drive, update drivers, and so on, isn't it?
  3. check dmesg for errors pertaining to iwlwifi or intel, and make sure /usr/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-ty-a0-gf-a0.pnvm does not exist
  4. Welcome to the forum @jokakilla, @jiggle24, and @Sean Perez and Happy NY! @jokakilla thanks for this feedback, it's great information and how I generally use my SBCs too (small servers with no X windows). Great to hear it's been stable for you.. one thing I haven't done much of is run images for much longer than testing components work, so this is good information @jiggle24, great work getting you own image built if you're new to all this!. Are you able to provide some more details on which github repository you built from specifically? (ie. repository and commit id), this is interesting feedback about the NIC, I haven't seen any issues with the NIC myself except for the initial issue with speed which I thought was resolved with a patch, so if you can let us know the specifics and perhaps provide a reproducer (steps to reproduce) it would help. Also, try with different cable + network configuration perhaps to rule out hardware issues unrelated to the SBC? Are you able to test the network with the PR6116 build I posted from @Gunjan Gupta and see if it has the same network issue? https://armdev.pixeldrift.net/orangepi/zero3/pr_testing/PR6116_20231230_8504bd650_Armbian-unofficial_24.2.0-trunk_Orangepizero3_bookworm_edge_6.7.0-rc7_xfce_desktop.tar.xz @fizban thanks for that feedback. It does sound like a bad write to the SD card, and glad to hear a re-image of the card resolved it. I use a few different methods to write my images, but have ended up using balenaEtcher as my primary tool now as it also verifies the image after writing. Great to hear you got it working, and let us know if you come across any other issues. Hi @Sean Perez, thanks for the long post. @Gunjan Gupta are across all these sources and the requirements and differences to build zero2, zero3 and zero2w. This thread is more around Armbian specifics than just getting a working image, ie. the xunlog images exist, but this thread is about building working Aembian images and testing these images specifically. This includes merging the configuration from multiple different sources (patches, other repositories, and work from various communities) into Armbian so it works correctly for all the H61* boards as well. @Gunjan Gupta did some earlier work to get the zero2w working in Armbian and that is available in his branch here and may provide some additional insight: https://github.com/viraniac/armbian_build/tree/zero2w This is the work I am discussing merging, as it's known working with Armbian, and the H618 is shared by the zero3 and the pattern used for zero2/zero3 @Gunjan Gupta has used reduces the rework for some of the shared components and will benefit the Armbian project when more H618 boards come onto the market as @Gunjan Gupta has mentioned. I assume from your post you have a zero2w? One of the challenges we have had is that no one has had zero2w hardware to test, but I bought one over the break (with an expansion board) so will look at it more closely now I can actually test the images. My zero2w is still sealed as I have been keen to work through zero2 and zero3 issues while @Gunjan Gupta is merging. We may need a new thread for zero2w board specifically.

  7. I tried to update my odroidm1 to 23.11.2 (from 23.8.1) by fresh install using Armbian_23.11.2_Odroidm1_bookworm_current_6.1.68 flashed to sdcard but when booting the device (holding recovery button) I see "Gave up waiting for root file system device." The same issue when using the other CLI images flashed to sdcard. Any idea how to fix this? When mounting the sdcard from a ubuntu system the uuid seem to match and the sdcard is mountable.
  8. I use Armbian Jammy Xfc3 23.11.1 on my Banana Pi m3. It's on a 32 GB SD-Card. I did a backup with usbimager Flashed the image to another SD card with 128 GB. Changed the rootdev=UUID in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and the UUID in /etc/fstab But it won't boot What am I missing?

  10. armbianEnv.txt doesn't exist on Armbian_23.11.1_Odroidxu4_jammy_current_6.1.63.img or Armbian_23.11.1_Odroidxu4_bookworm_current_6.1.63.img. I built image from dev branch and same deal. Stable branch (23.11) dies and doesn't build. Oh crap I just read on the download page That creates the armbianEnv.txt file. I don't remember having to do that before. It's been a while since I've installed on XU4. OK that was it: sudo hdparm -Tt /dev/sda /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 2042 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1022.35 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 136 MB in 4.29 seconds = 31.68 MB/sec

  13. of course I've adjusted the UUID in armbianEnv.txt... And there is another issue: eth1/end0 seem to be unfunctional. It doesnt obtain an ipv4/v6-address from the router, only IPV6LL is assigned by the kernel, the FEC driver is working, end0.network is configured with dhcp the same way as end1.network.
  14. I had a working setup with a small driver issue so I flashed coreelc on an sd card and after booting into it once, I can't seem to be able to boot into armbian anymore. booting into coreelec still works but the armbian sd stopped working. I tried editing the extlinux and evreything I soldered serial pins to see what's going on bl31 reboot reason: 0xd bl31 reboot reason: 0x3 system cmd 1. 15. Sorry @Stephen Graf I didn't miss your message. Good news about the cellphone pairing.. not so good news about the gpio messages in dmesg. I don't recall seeing that on the zero2 but I could have a closer look. No doubt something with the gpio configuration that needs investigation. I am currently trying to get CPU Frequency scaling fixed on the zero3, but I will add these error messages (and checking if zero2 is the same) to my list. @Gunjan Gupta regarding the CPU Frequency scaling on the zero3.. I modified the arm64-dts-allwinner-h616-Add-efuse_xlate-cpu-frequency-scaling patch as discussed to add the sun50i-h616-cpu-opp.dtsi include to the shared zero dtsi, that all worked well. The &cpu configuration had to be in the separate zero2 and zero3 .dts files because the regulator for vdd-cpu differs for each (zero2 is dcdca, zero3 is dcdc2). All that worked fine and compiled fine, but still not getting any results from the cpufreq-info command. Upon closer inspection of the patch, I suspect I may need to add references for the h618 SoC to this patch: https://github.com/pixdrift/armbian_build/blob/c519c355d83f2588c1b0442420f6cdf184b4bc40/patch/kernel/archive/sunxi-6.6/patches.armbian/arm64-dts-allwinner-h616-Add-efuse_xlate-cpu-frequency-scaling-v1_6_2.patch#L127-L130 and several other references in the file will need the h618 configuration added to the check. Would you be able to run your eye over this and see if this looks like I am on the right track? If so I will try to put together a patch to resolve it (if a working version doesn't exist elsewhere).
  16. A prior version (Armbian_23.5.1_Odroidn2_bookworm_current_6.1.30.img.xz) doesn't show the failures shown in the original post. And for that older version, "lsusb -t" shows the uas driver is being used. To get U-boot to load the kernel, I modified boot.cmd so root_dev is set to the UUID of the SSD file system partition and recompiled with mkimage. I've bitten the bullet and ordered the UART to USB module to see if I can get some better diagnostics from the console.
  17. The original /etc/fstab from Armbian_23.8.1_Cubox-i_bookworm_current_6.1.50.img.xz looks like this: UUID=8e42c01d-846b-4090-b69e-1b45502b6cc4 / ext4 defaults,noatime,commit=600,errors=remount-ro 0 1 tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults, nosuid 0 0 As mentioned before, you will need to adjust the UUID unless you have passed it to mkfs.ext4.
  18. Hi, I downloaded the jammy xfce image for ODROID C2 today: MD5SUM 033fbc0babb56db5388b4c707a2fc0ce Armbian_23.11.1_Odroidc2_jammy_current_6.1.63_xfce_desktop.img.xz After flashing it onto my SD card with xzcat and dd, I tried to boot with my Odroid C2 ending up with this error message: ALERT! UUID=75e23441-f5ee-4479-a484-7060ccd898ae does not exist. So I put the SD back into my PC and checked with gparted: the UUID of the partition that I have on my SD card seems to have exactly the UUID that was not found. In fact the boot until that error message lastet quite long, so I expect that the timeout is not too small. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks!

  20. Description Recently, I accidentally erased an SPI flash with an bootloader installed and tried to reinstall the latest bootloader. But it did not recognize the attached disks and proceeded to TFTP Boot. Only by stopping autoboot and hot-swapping the disks or reattaching did the bootloader recognize it, and I was then able to boot with the command. I investigated and found that the problem occured after U-Boot was updated to v2023.01. This issue has been resolved by applying a patch that was previously used in v2022.07. How Has This Been Tested? By compiling U-Boot from trunk (linux-u-boot-odroidhc4-current_24.2.0-trunk) for v2023.01, v2023.04, v2023.07, v2023.10 and testing those on ODROID-HC4. 21. @royk Finally working for the spi bus. As I didn't know what I may did wrong, I reinstalled the system, read better the doc as you suggested (the first example they show it's not the standard configuration, confusing for me at first), and finally I chose the right overlay. My armbianEnv.txt is like this to make it works: verbosity=1 bootlogo=true overlay_prefix=rockchip-rk3588 fdtfile=rockchip/rk3588-orangepi-5-plus.dtb rootdev=UUID=2cc7a9a6-afc7-4cd4-b377-6f83f2e1bf50 rootfstype=ext4 overlays=rk3588-spi0-m2-cs0-cs1-spidev usbstoragequirks=0x2537:0x1066:u,0x2537:0x1068:u I'm using the cs0-cs1 because I will need both later as I will use rotary encoders. I assume it will be the same for i2c bus, I will have to choose the right overlay. I still don't know which one would be for the i2s, but I should find that somewhere in the documentation I hope. Thanks for the answers and the tip for how to load user overlays.
  22. Unfortunately when I put my pendrive and boot from pendrive with the desktop version I get Uuid=xxxx does not exist. Dropping to a shell But I can boot fine with the minimal image
  23. The good thing is: You don't need to modify the contents of the image in order to make it run on an Utilite Pro (This image is supposed to support more or less all imx6 based devices). The nasty thing is: You need to modify the Utilite u-boot environment to make it compatible with the "distroboot-method" and you need to circumvent the limitations of the firmware. The Utilite u-boot cannot read from ext4 filesystems with 64 bit extensions enabled. Download the cubox-image and write it to an usb storage (a) Prepare another usb key (b) with an ext4 filesystem: sudo mkfs.ext4 -O ^64bit /dev/sdxX Mount both and copy the contents from (a) to (b) Adjust the rootfs UUID in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and /etc/fstab Plug-in usb key (b) to your Utilite and check if it boots up.
