Tido Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Hi, I cannot exactly say why, but I never liked the 'emptyness' of the IP-Address on the SSH welcome message System load: 0.82 0.29 0.10 Up time: 1 min Memory usage: 3 % of 3867MB IP: 192.168.11.7 So I thought it needs a lot of space for a long Up time. So, the space is reasonable. Looking at the other information provided, which needs as well many letters? My suggestion to move it like this and adding: -Address (IP is not the complete term (Internet-Protocol): IP-Address: 192.168.11.7 Up time: 1 min Memory usage: 3 % of 3867MB System load: 0.82 0.29 0.10 adding 'Address' might fix the emptyness as well: System load: 0.82 0.29 0.10 Up time: 1 min Memory usage: 3 % of 3867MB IP-Address: 192.168.11.7 It is just the welcome display but the first thing you see (you have only one chance for a first impression ) Your thoughts on that, I am curious? 0 Quote

In other words: I tried my best with little effort to show Alright, I just logged out and in again. Igor already pimped it however, I wish to add some changes Can we group the information - what belongs together or is related to eachother like: Memory /ZRAM /Usage should always have 2 digits like: 02% not just 2% (or the one (1) digit-No. should act like there was leading zero) | the % sign should always follow straight after the number, no space inbetween. Now it is mixed. MB vs Mb is mixed on Memory /ZRAM. Hmm, and if we have 2 letters for MB, Usage should have that too: GB Isn't the technical term: IP-Address (internet protocol address) ? "Usage of /:" what is meant here? SDcard /Nand /emmc which is basically: storage (this would then fit to the wording on the Autotest). Memory usage: 37 % of 3874MB System load: 0.15 0.22 0.25 Zram usage: 1 % of 1023Mb Up time: 3:53 hours Usage of /: 18% of 29G IP-aDDreSS: 172.13.0.1 192.168.15.5 CPU temp: 56°C 0 Quote

I need help on: Up time und IP-Address seem to get there 'colon' from anywhere, I have no clue. The gap for the Up time I cannot fix, I have no clue.. again, although I tried: https://regex101.com/ System storage: 10% of 32GB Attached storage: 1% of 4GB - should have a leading 0 couldn't figure that out either 0 Quote

Pander Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 More proper writing would be 'CPU temperature' and 'IP-address'. 0 Quote

Pander Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Note to self to create PR later on, see https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/packages/bsp/common/etc/update-motd.d/30-armbian-sysinfo 0 Quote
Pander Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 IP address is now written correctly and I will leave the temp as is. 0 Quote
artefactom Posted September 2 Posted September 2 A recent install of mine greets me with just a “last login” line. No box. Weird. Why is that? 0 Quote

On first boot did you cancel out between settings root pw and user creation? Not sure but the motd box might be enabled after first boot initialization has been completed successful only. 0 Quote
