Does debian buster need a login and password 4 initial boot?

I started debian buster up and it started running through the black screen with non-graphics (doing this, doing that), then it got to ARMBIAN DEBIAN TTY1: login ... password.

Is there a default login and password for this?

If not, then there is something wrong with my download  though I checked to make sure it was debian for orangepiplus2e desktop, and it is. This iso worked in the past and i have it saved on my ext hdd.

UPDATE:

I checked the checksum that I created with the checksum document that downloaded with the .img, and they are the same.

I used "cp filename.img /dev/sdx" to copy the img to an microsd using a media card reader and it seemed to work fine.

But upon loading, the file gets stuck slightly after it says "FAILED: NO NETWORK..." " failed to start network manager wait online".

The "raw disk image" before copying to micro-sd is 2.3GB.

Thanks.

Latest images have root auto login where it asks for:

- changing root password

- asks if you want to make autodetected locales or provide selection if more then one exists

- asks for creating username (optional)

- password

- name (optional)

Something like this (not exactly this way):

Once you finish this, desktop will start - if you have a desktop images.

Default User/Password for a new flashed image on SDCard is

User: root

Initial Password: 1234

after that you have to enter a new root-password ;)

Thank you Guidol - that's exactly right. Thanks Igor for your input.

Thanks I booted by Debian on Pine64 and it did Auto-login automatically However it does not ask for creation of password. But for root password and 1234 is not consider a default valid password. Is there a way to interrupt auto-login feature during boot so you can enter the command line prompt
