  1. I don't think it's crazy, but I don't think you have a good read on the current state of the project. Even the founder cannot work on the project full-time. It's probably a stretch to focus on course curriculum over technical debt. Since you seem to have a background in instruction, I'd be glad to spend some one on one time with you to help you understand the platform, if you'd be willing to capture, distill and contribute back to our documentation.
  2. Man..... i kinds wish gopher would make a come back for my terminal lifestyle dreams
  3. Lol. My potato does the same with mate desktop with lightdm starting the session. Honestly ive never seen shutdown totally work right on any of these SBCs... best cause scenario they halt and just suck power
  4. Pretty sure its a penguin because tux the penguin is the linux mascot
  5. If someone was to work with you on some exercises, would you be willing to distill down what was learned and contribute it back as meaningful documentation for the community?

  7. This smells like someone savvy with higher ed dollars and grant money So in all seriousness, what would armbian certified look like to you. What are the skills that one would be trying to master. As a brainstorming here's some possibilities: Using build system to build custom images and kernels alternate kernel options the user-patches framework kernel patches alternate system configurations software preinstallaion Understanding the SBC ecosystem vendor culture kernel fragmentation u-boot fragmentation Mainlining Initiatives u-boot kernel Adding your own community support board to the ecosystem -- assuming you plan to continue to support it
  8. That's super awesome. Out of curiousity, what do you and you students do with armbian? and what kind of hardware generally?
  9. on the forum.. There's "Donations" from under the store menu. Its a bit vague.. The forum software is a little quirky.. A lot of the menu bar stuff are plugins and they're kind of e-commerce oriented.
  10. it would be interesting to make the builder a little more plugable as far as the upstream debian used, but a lot of the optimizaions are fairly OS centric. I'm generally a fan of systemd with the exception of systemd resolver.. Pretty much all of the DNS bolt-ons that Ubuntu and friends do drive me nuts since they by-pass my internal resolver for my inside domains. I *thought* I had scrubbed out most of that stuff wiht hte build scrips, but a recent image was still being funny in Chromium
  11. That song exceeded expectations.
  12. run armbian-config -> system -> freeze
  13. Thanks Martin! I just validated on my OpiOne+
  14. If I were to try to figure this out..... where would I start? Device Tree in Kernel? then see how like another Pi is done, then stare at OpiOnePlus schematics until i have a breakthrough? or is it a u-boot thing?
  15. This mostly rhetorical, but what is dev then?
  16. Its true. https://forum.armbian.com/topic/9833-h6-famous-reboot-problem/
  17. Isn't the dev Kernel 5.0.y? next is ahead? Ohhhh... is this on the TV boxes branch?
  18. Any Experience with the Libre Renegade (the regular Rk3288) one. I've been desktoping with my Le Potato... wondering if the Renegade would be slightly more polished---- don't care about h264... mostly just care about 4k and an analog audio jack that works.
  19. What kernel are you building against? What patchset are you using.... Are you using armbian build tools to build kernel?
  20. Long time Linux Journal Editor and CSO at Pur.ism, Kyle Rankin recognized Armbian as a source of hope on his article about the challenges of RPi alternatives. Linux Journal: Downsides to Raspberry Pi Alternatives. https://www.linuxjournal.com/content/downsides-raspberry-pi-alternatives
  21. re: python videos... these have incredible production quality https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLi01XoE8jYohWFPpC17Z-wWhPOSuh8Er-
  22. Any good recommendations for espressobin powersupplies for NAS applications?
  23. To help clarify Xunlong used a "legacy" method for configutation called fex. It is unique to allwinner android kernels. Fex is not used with linux mainline kernels, which is what armbian uses.
