    A good read.
I've learned something. I didn't know the ethernet and usb share the same line. The thing is even crappier than I thought.
I would also have complained (a lot) about their ancient ddr2 RAM chips. I find this the biggest flaw in the design of the 3B+. The SoC is so bottlenecked by this that even at OC of 1.5Ghz, it performs very badly on ram dependend tasks.

The thing is just one collection of design flaws. I don't know what was going on while they were designing the 3B/3B+. They were clearly not concentrating on their work.
Either they don't have good testers, or they just don't listen to their concerns. All these issues should have been fixed after the first tests.

I still love my 2B, and still use it often. That's got advantages towards other sbc's(power efficient, no throttling, much more stable, ...) I still hope they're going to do better with the next one. But for now I'm going to use my RK3399's and dream of the Odroid N2.
    Great job, thanks.

    Hi all,

I wrote a blog post about some of the issues with the Raspberry Pi that you can find scattered around this and other forums. Hopefully it will save us time from repeating ourselves over and over again.

As we know, people don't read the forums until it's too late.

nachoparker reacted to JMCC in RK3328 Media Script (Rock64, Renegade)
THE MEDIA SCRIPT IS NOW DEPRECATED, IN FAVOR OF THE OFFICIAL MULTIMEDIA FRAMEWORK. PLEASE REFER TO THIS TOPIC:

And, for last,  the first version of:
    The UN-official, UN-supported, UN-expected
    RK3328 MEDIA TESTING SCRIPT

This is the first release of the RK3328 media testing script. The script provides a functionality similar to its RK3288/3399 equivalents, except for the OpenCL related stuff, which is not supported by the SoC. So it includes:
Installing all the libraries and system configurations necessary for GPU accelerated X desktop, Chromium WebGL, full VPU video play acceleration up to 4k@60 10-bit HEVC (the maximum supported by the SoC), and GLES 2.0 support. Three video players supporting full VPU acceleration (RKMPP) and KMS display (GBM or a X11 DRM "hack", as described by the authors), namely: MPV, Gstreamer and Kodi. A library that will act as an OpenGL to OpenGL-ES wrapper, allowing you to run programs that use OpenGL 1.5-2.0. Two additional features, that have no big interest from the Armbian development prospective, but I find them interesting to play with: Chromium browser with support for Flash and DRM-protected commercial web video streaming (tested with Amazon Prime, should also work with Netflix, Hulu, etc.), and a simple Pulseaudio GTK equalizer using LADSPA.
Here is a more thorough documentation:

    >>> DOWNLOAD LINK <<<

    Prerequisites:
You need a fresh Armbian Bionic desktop image with default kernel installed.

    Instructions:
Download the file above Untar it: tar xvf media-rk3328_*.txz cd media-script ./media-rk3328.sh
    Notes:
This script is not officially supported by the Armbian project. It is just a community effort to help the development of the main build, by experimenting with a possible implementation of the media capabilities of this particular SoC. Therefore, questions about the script should not be laid out as support requests, but as commentaries or community peer-to-peer assistance. That being said, all commentaries/suggestions/corrections are very welcome. In the same way, I will do my best to help solve any difficulty that may arise regarding the script.
    Enjoy!

The curl installer (and softy) should be fixed now. Still testing it but if you want to try it out and confirm that would be great.

Also generating an image for the OrangePi Zero Plus 2, should be uploaded to ownyourbits.com/downloads/testing shortly

I managed to have Sury provide a php7.2-redis package for armhf, so it shouldn't break again

Looking for somebody to test the banana pi image (I don't own one), and if you guys want images for any board not yet supported just tell me.

No, even if we tag the build script we are almost always using branches and not tags for upstream sources (kernel, u-boot, ATF), so it is possible that things would get changed and broken over time.

LIB_TAG should be changed in the configuration file, it cannot be set via command line.

Branch "development" is fixed. It should work now: https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/cd4f7d2423b84b3cf3ddf6e6bdc0344f3200a5d7

    @Igor great!

I'll create my commit locally in that branch, then generate a plain image for the Odroid HC1, then test it directly in the board, when everything is ok will PR to development branch. Sounds good?

    Hello,

I am the main developer of NextCloudPlus. NCP is a community project to make it easier to run and setup a Nextcloud instance in ARM boards, by providing configuration tools and setup wizards for typical management tasks such as backups, SSL certificates and more.

We have just released the first stable version of Armbian based images with NCP for Odroid XU4 / HC1 / HC2.

Check it out at the downloads section. More boards will come soon

Feedback, testing and development help are very welcome

    Cheers,
