Tido Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 a 2 minute video about how to report a bug on https://launchpad.net/ (Ubuntu) quite interesting and I didn't know about ubuntu-bug. Pretty easy, good to know: https://youtu.be/27OhY83MsU8
Tido Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 A nice video about really tweaking boot time. You must have a really special, rare case to use that technic, but if you have the need to boot linux as quick as a microcontroller, then it is quite interesting Timing Boot Time Reduction Techniques - Michael Opdenacker, Bootlin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sUiDJlJiYw&feature=emb_logo 39 min
Tido Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 my very first SBC (Lamobo R1) is finally completely FLOSS (free libre open source software) supported So to say the best product from SinoVoip, sadly I never received an answer from @Nora Lee @Lion Wang about my suggestion especially point 1 & 2 would be easy and a huge improvement of the hardware. in November: https://olimex.wordpress.com/2019/11/28/a20-and-a64-olinuxino-now-with-libre-elec-and-kodi-support/ and just a couple days later: https://olimex.wordpress.com/2019/12/20/the-a20-driver-for-hdmi-audio-is-almost-done/ https://www.olimex.com/

Sounds cool and as it has been tested on Raspberry Pi 3B, I guess it should easily run on any mainline Kernel supported SBC beautiful step-by-step setup. NicoD Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Bit off topic, that's what the topic is for So I've been using the NanoPi M4/V2 for over a half year as main desktop and left my pc off most of the times. That today gave me a nice advantage in my electrical bill. While the price of electricity goes up, I consumed 8.8% less only by using SBC's instead of my pc. And that not for a full year even. I can still improve with LED lights. And keep using my SBCs. This does give an example why using ARM can be very benificial. I even made a quick video about it. Not really Armbian related. I don't think I need to convince any of you of the advantages of using arm. But it is a good thing to think about where we can save money/energy in replacing x86 machines with arm boards. Arm also has disadvantages off course. Less user friendly, do it yourself... I also talk about that. So you don't need to see the video any more actually, bit if you do, please enjoy. Greetings, NicoD 3

I do not replace my "old-power-saving-bulbs" because of the grey energy needed. Same thing as driving an old car until it breaks or buy a new more efficent car. Tido Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 While trying to get @PittPC access to my Rock Pi 4B, but not having a domaine-name (WWW) and because of my provider using DS-Lite (Dual Stack Lite) on IPv4 I am not able to open a tunnel . While I have an IPv6 but PittPC does not %) So, I asked him: Can I install something that opens a connection to you? So I learned about this: MeshCentral This is a full computer management web site. With MeshCentral, you can run your own web server to remotely manage and control computers on a local network or anywhere on the internet. Once you get the server started, create device group and download and install an agent on each computer you want to manage. A minute later, the new computer will show up on the web site and you can take control of it. MeshCentral includes full web-based remote desktop, terminal and file management capability. https://github.com/Ylianst/MeshCentral

Igor Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Quote As for the main software running on Pocket P.C., we will be working with Bootlin, an embedded development firm, to upstream everything from U-boot specific changes including Device Tree, Linux Kernel changes including Device Tree, Buildroot configuration and an Armbian build configuration. This means that not only will we be supporting Armbian in addition to Debian but this should make it much easier for other distributions to be supported once the changes are accepted upstream. https://blog.popcorncomputer.com/2020/12/22/perfecting-pocket-p-c/ 1
