It seems Beelink X2 comes with different flavours of DRAM and our default 624 MHz DRAM clock might be too high for some of the modules. It might sound weird but you could try out our image for NanoPi NEO and report back (since there DRAM is clocked very low -- since you have UART workinf you could at least report whether board boots or not). Please get back to us with an update. RAM is PE029(PRN256M16V00HG8GNF), in evening i will try image for NanoPi NEO, I successfully running laboris linux (Debian_jessie_mini.img.xz),

But maybe we should simply revert back to the settings above (or at least reduce DRAM clock to 576 MHz? Let's wait for the test with NEO image...
Matthew Hodgson Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I assume you have a home network and a router? When the Beelink X2 boots it tries to get an IP-address from your router. You can enter the routers menu and check which IP-address is assigned to the Beelink X2. Check for DHCP client list or similar in the router menu. When you know the IP-address of the Beelink X2 you can try to reach it from another computer in your home network for example your desktop PC. Ping is a command that checks if there is network connectivity between two computers. Ssh is a way of remotely logging in to another computer. Armbian is by default configured so that you can connect to it via ssh. Right I understand - Have connected the device to the router, unfortunately their is nothing displayed by my router regarding the device

The mainline u-boot guys would be happy to hold your device in their hands since AFAIK they still look into DRAM calibration issues (this is the main/only difference here compared to loboris images: they all use Allwinner's old u-boot version where a proprietary blob does DRAM initialization while we use code that has been written from scratch by linux-sunxi community) Edit: Are you able to measure the voltage provided by the PSU at the device (including potential voltage drops caused by cable and contact resistance)? Background: I tested through a few SBC days ago and one of the boards that only features a crappy Micro USB connector for DC-IN (a so called Roseapple Pi) showed strange behaviour as long as I did not increase the supplied voltage up to 5.4V. When the voltage was below 5.0V it simply did not boot, between 5.1V and 5.3V I experienced random freezes and u-boot sometimes showed 1 GiB and sometimes the real 2 GiB. Just an idea to rule out PSU issues (no idea how mainline u-boot and Allwinner's boot0 BLOB might differ here. At least H3 devices are not accompanied by a PMIC -- power management IC -- and on most boards all voltage regulators just divide the input voltage so strange things might happen when voltage is not sufficient)

Are you able to then overwrite a few sectors of an Armbian image if I provide you with a patched u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin? Or do you need a whole new image?

I tried it with my older X2 yesterday and it properly booted with just 4.3V (4.2V no go, but as soon as I increased voltage by 0.1V it worked). BTW: I was talking about real voltage available to the device and not PSU ratings (cable/contact resistance can lead to severe voltage drops). Anyway: I built a specially crafted Armbian image for you: http://213.179.157.5/orders/Armbian_5.20_Beelinkx2_Ubuntu_xenial_3.4.112.7z Please download within 24 hours and provide output from serial console. You can try to integrate this into an armbian sdcard if you still have one (dd if=beelink-x2-spl.img of=/dev/your-sd-card bs=1024 skip=8 seek=8), or you'll have to wait for a new complete image, I don't use armbian myself.

I built the image without external applications so it's not that useful anyway (quick&dirty since all we needed was Jens' help here). @Igor: would be great if you could at least rebuild both legacy images for X2 with the patch now applied and encourage the affected users to try them out so that we get more useful feedback. Matthew Hodgson Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Hi - thanks guys have tried the new X2 update of Armbian on my board, originally they wouldn't show anything on screen with the previous version - On the V3.1.1 board I have I see that it states kernal modules aren't loaded when going through script - unsure if that helps - it also ends up stopping with this on screen

Now you should login as root with pwd 1234, then change root pwd and so on. It seems your console gets spammed with some warnings so this might get hard doing interactively with keyboard and display. Aren't you able to simply login through SSH? Then the messages won't bother you and you can do the initial setup remotely.
