  1. You could use ntpdate and a cronjob to force an update every x minutes but I have my doubts that this would help in this case.
  2. Support for old-legacy kernels have been dropped. Last but not least due the lack of upstream fixes. However you can take a look at an old branch backup: https://github.com/armbian/build/releases/tag/cubox-purge Adjust the configs for the designated board to use older sources which may either be included above or laying somwhere else at github or in the deeps of the www.
  3. [ 4.389833] usb usb3-port1: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad? Did you consider this?
  4. I never tried to point U-Boot to a custom kernel but I think you may need to edit the boot.cmd and create a new boot.scr from it
  5. Probably not. Too many uncertainties. However if somebody takes on the challenge to make the build script ready for WSL and push a PR it might be accepted.
  6. How did you build your kernel? The supported way is using the build script. Then you get proper packages that will do the necessary stuff. https://github.com/armbian/build
  7. In short: pihole -up Long version: armbian-config most times simply calls apt or a 3rd party installation script to install stuff. It does not interfere with upgrading and stuff, this needs to be done manually.
  8. Found it. It is provided by the package initramfs-tools-core and the default config sets compression to lz4.
  9. That was actually the regression that we fixed but no idea why it switched back to lz4.... @Igor I have an idea though. Focal provides the initramfs-tools and may contain lz4 if not adjusted by Armbian. Could not find the config file in the package yet.
  10. I assume 20.05.2 was okay? Did you retry with a fresh image on another sd card?
  11. Maybe the filesystem got corrupted. Can you mount it the sd card on another computer?
  12. Is there a chance that you could verify the temperature readings with an external probe?
  13. Try nice instead of renice. renice is used to adjust the nice-level of already existing processes. nice is used to give a newly created proces a specific priority.
  14. Doesn't Debian use systemd for their stuff? The init.d files might be there only for legacy reasons. You probably have to edit the corresponding systemd file. Check if you find it in /lib/systemd/system
  15. While the overall stability and support seems better on the 4.4 legacy kernel a well known downside - you guessed that - is the lack of proper USB type C support. Unfortunately there is not much what can be done about that if noone spends time to fix this...
  16. A RaspberryPi and any board that is supported by Armbian cannot be compared really. At RaspberryPi a lot of people working with just a few boards while at Armbian just a few people working literally on hundreds of boards which not even share the same sources. You see while at their place they have plenty of time to tweak every aspect Armbian simply cannot do that due to lack of ressources.
  17. You can use the build script to create a bootable image (or just the kernel package of course) just like those on the download page but with the latest changes included. Those are not officially supported then, though that should not matter if it serves the purpose and enables audio for you I did that for you:https://armbian.laet.pw/_extra/ You do not need the sources and u-boot probably either. Get the dtbs, the image and the headers and install them over your current kernel using dpkg -i *.deb. If possible create a backup of your current setup just in case...
  18. You could for example remove all the WiFi stuff and/or compile your own kernel with WiFi in general removed. A higher quality sd card (A2 class) can make a difference.
  19. Not really. Just keep monitoring it for a few days/weeks for issues like packet loss, connectivity loss...common stuff to say.
  20. https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/df0083d39588139bb2685d1e829a526104d3a347
  21. Interesting. Do you plan to come up with a similar board that offers Gigabit ethernet?
