File transfers broken after recent updates

My Helios64 setup has been running stable for months now (except for one MOSFET that failed and had to be replaced), however after recent updates using the OMV5 package manager I am unable to transfer files to my computer (SMB shares). When trying to transfer to a Windows computer the transfer speed immediately plummets to 0, stays there forever or File Explorer crashes/stops responding.

When transferring to an Ubuntu system the transfer time outs.

I can browse the files on the SMB share, I can play them (movies, music, etc) or run them directly with no issues.

I can transfer files using scp with no problem (just at much reduced speed/bandwidth).

Version: 5.6.7-1

Kernel: 5.10.35-rockchip64

I was hoping for new updates to fix whatever is broken, but new updates won't install because of "unmet dependencies" and "you have held broken packages". So far this is for armbian-bsp-cli-helios64 21.05.2 and linux-buster-root-current-helios64 21.05.1

Anyone know what's wrong?

Upgrade was well tested and we didn't spot the problem you are mentioning. Without logs, we know to little to do anything about https://www.armbian.com/bugs

Armbian developers also hope you will start to cover their expenses if you expect work on your behalf. Work on FREE LICENCE software is very expensive, ... but you don't. tl;dr; read rant section.

My best guess is that the network driver for the 2.5 GbE NIC is broken, of course that could be unrelated to the updates. The relevant lines from dmesg appears to be:

[   11.812340] r8152 4-1.4:1.0 (unnamed net_device) (uninitialized): netif_napi_add() called with weight 256
[   11.827250] r8152 4-1.4:1.0 eth1: v2.14.0 (2020/09/24)

I will try to figure it out myself.

That "Tx status -2" don't look right.

The 1 GbE connection seems to work fine.

Same problem for me: impossible to install update: the following packages have unmet dependencies: armbian-bsp-cli-helios64

So what can we do to fix this bug ?

Thank you.

I had the same issue, I had to uncheck CLI and the linux-buster-root-current, then installed updates, followed by the CLI alone, after installing the CLI the root-current 21.05.1 went away/was no longer available for me to attempt an install..

Those are a few of options:

- you can fix it and submit a patch https://github.com/armbian/build

- always report bugs how it is requests (other options - just ranting that something is wrong or providing only logs you suspect are important - are wasting our time. We don't look them.) https://forum.armbian.com/bugs and developers you support will help you when and if they find time.

- wait that random person fix this problem and submits a patch.

- after problem is fixed wait that staff that maintains repository create a bugfix release, which again adds costs to the bill.

Same issue here, it's quite frustrating. Unfortunately, I have no idea where to even start an attempt at a fix. Can anyone confirm that this problem does not persist when using the 1Gbit NIC?

Can confirm that on the 1G NIC it works just fine. As @Ammonia said, the driver for the 2.5G must be broken. This reminds me of the time that the driver was removed, @Igor probably remembers.
