I had an attempt and building mainline uboot, adding in the N2 support and building the ATF firmware to run uboot. I did not have uboot working (some issues not long after uboot is started, I think I missed reserving memory) but I did manage to work out how to format the amlogic firmware to start uboot. It was a bit more complex and messy than the C2 process but can be scripted easy enough I believe, we would need some compiled blobs from the hardkernel git still I think for the moment as in the C2.
I will keep trying uboot as baylibre add support for the g12a there. Would be nice to have mainline running on the SPI as many more possible features for booting images.

Never connect a VCC contact for USB-TTL. Use only three GND Tx Rx Pins on all models.

Added test images 5.84 to the server with the Buster and Disco.
For vim1 VIM2 x96max Vega s95 etc models, there is remote support in all 5.84 images.

I have several options for S905X2. Video in MPV up to 1080p works with SW normally. There are small artifacts in the browser at 1080p. Is no support for audio via HDMI (expected within the next month), you need to use a USB sound card. And no support built-in WiFi and BT (need to use USB). If you take, the version with 4 GB of RAM and 1000 LAN port (and I recommend proven models for which there will be support). If there is no hurry, you can wait until the fall, then go new RK, it is more interesting models.

Soon to appear interesting device S9xxx . If you are interested, I will try to negotiate with the management of the company to send you samples.
PS According to preliminary information, it should be a very interesting device.

Yes, all images are universal and you can ignore the name.

Good news. I checked the work Armbian on the model Beelink GT1 mini (S905X2). The system starts normally with dtb from x96max, works wired network, HDMI, BT, eMMC, SD and USB.

Kernel N2 for Armbian is the result of joint work BayLibre and developer community Libreelec (we work together closely). It takes time for everything to look finished. Only then will the publication.

Sound through HDMI and the rest is there , but it is WIP and not yet for public use.

Seems that the entropy daemon haveged fails to start with recent kernels. I find that adding --data=16 to DAEMON_ARGS in /etc/defaults/haveged allows the daemon to start successfully.

Images Armbian for N2 is already there and tested, you can freely use.

So you want to update the kernel? The way I do that is that I compile and install a kernel I download from Oleg's (balbes150) repository on GitHub. This has the advantage that I can configure the kernel to fit exactly my needs. Depending on your hardware you can also download, configure, compile and install an unpatched mainline kernel from kernel.org. Either way, you get exactly the kernel version you want with exactly the options you need.
BUT
If the kernel you already have installed and booting from eMMC is working fine, there is no reason to update.

Pay attention. To properly boot the system to SD card on Odroid N2 you need to switch the startup u-boot was installed on SD\eMMC. (that is, the position that is used in the release of equipment from the plant).

Implementation of protection can be different. The General principle is to avoid performance degradation, keep the system at a temperature knowingly below the point of limitation. For rk33xx I recommend not to exceed 70 degrees. It is desirable at any loads to have a temperature of not more than 20-30 degrees, relative to the environment. This ensures minimal problems with thermal expansion (metals and PCB have different thermal expansion coefficients). The smaller the temperature difference during operation and shutdown, the less problems with operation.
