NicoD reacted to Odroidian in Odroid N2+ / N2 Plus
    Hello forum,
I am new to Armbian. Selected it for my Odroid N2+ because I need high CPU performance for a virtual piano software and current Armbian Buster comes with 2.4 GHz.
I'd like to share my alsa settings for the analog stereo output of the N2+.
Could not find much info on the net, but at least I have analog sound now at the 3.5mm TRS-jack -- don't know really, why it works, but it does
    Created a /etc/asound.conf with

    pcm.!default {         type plug         slave {         pcm "hw:0,1"         } }
(sets analog stereo device as default).
The alsamixer settings I made manually. The following is the output of the command amixer:

I was thinking exactly the same question. Why do you bother and waste your time here if you don't like Armbian?
Lately I've red few complaints of people who have "many years of experience". But they don't want to bother reading and learning new skills.
Experience is not the same as knowledge
As knowledge is not the same as experience

With experience you can have gained knowledge about much but not being specialized at one thing, or know a lot about a small section of the industry and be blind to all other.

Thousands of people happily use Armbian on their devices and for 99% of the usecases everything is fine. The other 1% we try to help here.

I've made tons of informative videos about SBCs. I show how to do all the basic stuff, and some more advanced things.
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpv7NFr0-9AB5xoklh3Snhg/search?query=armbian
The forum also has the Reviews, Tutorials and Hacks section where almost everything you could want to learn about Armbian is explained.
    https://forum.armbian.com/forum/40-reviews-tutorials-hardware-hacks/
Then there is Armbian Docs also full of information.
    https://docs.armbian.com/

All these things have cost us time, and so also money. We are here to serve. And then you say our work is "garbage".
Sorry, but I do not take that lightly.

You can't teach someone who is convinced to know it all. Greetings.

A bit a pity there's not more interest in this board. And I've not seen any other H616 SBCs coming.
Their Orange(Armbian) images do seem ok. I wonder if we could not learn anything from their script/builds.
    https://github.com/orangepi-xunlong/OrangePi_Build
They've copied Armbian, maybe Armbian should copy them now
I don't know. Maybe this one should be a pass. Is the effort supporting it worth it? Tho the board is good for some use cases.

It begins at the far end of the USB. Pin 39/40 are next the USB.
When you use these jumper wires it is best to power with 2 power wires and 1 GND. So pins 2 and 4 you power with 5V. And pin 6 ground.
The M4V2 can consume up to 2A. Many jumper wires are not made for such high load. So dividing it over 2 wires makes sure there's no too much resistance.

I recently bought the Odroid Go Super. It is a great handheld for emulation gaming. But that isn't the main reason why I bought it.
It can also run Linux, tho not Armbian.
In this video I show how I use Debian Buster from Meveric on the Odroid Go Super and I also review the hardware. Greetings.

Here a YT video about the new Station P2.

I love the design. SATA and NVMe now fit in the case. A bit more usb is great. Dual Gbit ethernet, wifi 6 and up to 8GB ram. RK3568.
I hope they'll also make an rk3588 model.I like their metal cases a lot.

NicoD got a reaction from TRS-80 in Support of Raspberry Pi
You are free to think and believe what you want. As is Armbian free to use or not to use if you don't want to.
There are very good reasons why Armbian does not support Raspberry Pi. There is software available for RPis, so the need for Armbian isn't big.
RPi isn't open source as the other supported SBCs.(ThreadX)
The installed OS does not control the board. There are things happening without anyone knowing what and why.

RPi can be used for some goals. But it is too buggy to support. Undervoltages, overheating, not showing true details...

And as you say yourself, Armbian is a "community". Not a cult. We have community members, not leaders. I even think the person you talk about hasn't had anything to do with armbian for a long time. And even if I would not agree with that person. I defend his right to talk the way he feels like.
Not everyone is always as gentle in how they talk. We are all adults, and I think we should be able to handle that.
Go look at RPi fora and let me know what kind of talk you find their. Even having a light discussion isn't possible their.
    Greetings.

With the correct DTB setup, the HDMI audio LAN WiFi BT works in kernel 5.10. In kernel 4.4 worck remote control and analog sound.

You can create a swap file for this.
If you're using an sd-card then it will be very slow, but it will work. You can use zram and swap files together. It will first use zram, then swap file.
Here is how to create a swapfile. This is for 8GB, if you only need 1GB then use 1GB. When done just reverse the commands and delete /swapfile (sudo rm /swapfile)
sudo fallocate -l 8G /swapfile Allocate 8GB for swapfile sudo chmod 600 /swapfile Give the correct rights for the swapfile sudo mkswap /swapfile Make it a swapfile sudo swapon /swapfile Turn on the swapfile sudo nano /etc/fstab Open fstab and add the line ... /swapfile swap swap defaults 0 0

Looked better is subjective. I can agree their UI is well polished. After all this is all what most of the distros do - polish their appearance to sell. But I don't like Saint Patrick's day 356 days in a year  Also whenever I tried how is Manjaro doing, it doesn't boot or doesn't survive first run. Ofc I don't try it on mainstream devices which might even work to some degree with a kernel from the trunk.
