No, only one is true USB 3.0, the other is USB 2.0

See schematic OPI 4 on page 26

Yes, compatible. I checked that both blue ports work USB 3.0.

 

You only need to consider that there are two types of boards:

Orange Pi 4   - 1x USB3.0 HOST, 1 x USB3.0 Type-C

Orange Pi 4B - 1 x USB3.0 Type-C

I had a lot of stability issues with the original Orange Pi image, and it's running like a charm with Armbian.

And how can i fix my bluetooth again? there is a new kernel pushed without the fix i think so it works anymore.......

Hello,

I try to connect my orange pi 4 (NPU version (PI 4 B)) to my LG 4K Smart TV but I have no signal...

I use Buster desktop with kernel 5.4 (DEV).

I checked my power and my cable but I don't think it is the problem. When I did a test on another LCD screen all worked as expected.

I send to you the dmesg and Xorg log but I don't see a specific error...  perhaps you will see something I missed.

If I can I will be happy to help you for tests on orange pi 4.

As far as I can see, you are lacking the three last lines from dmesg.

 

I am currently running headless due to other projects (nvidia jetson nano)

Got some headless measurements of current.
OK-DO (original Raspberry PI PSU supplier 5V, 3A).
"Cabriolet" since my 3d printer got some problems, cannot build cabinet right now.
Headless.
Only an USB memory stick attached (and the SD-card).
Idle 0.61A
7z -b on repeat 1.79A (did go up to 1.82A but I was too late for picture)

I have updated to 5.6.10. Bluetooth doesn't work now.

 

PS: this hack helped me again.

PSS: now there is no sound from the 3.5 Jack. I didn't find how to fix it. I don't want to roll back to the old kernel.

I finally solved my problem.

I must power up the Orange PI board before power up the TV and the HDMI is well detected and I have now no crtc size error in my log.

But I have an issue with sound on HDMI, I have no sound.  the default server selected is pulse/native. Is something to configure to have sound on HDMI ?

Probably legacy. Kernel 4.4.x has proven to be most stable...if you can consider the support for the RK3399 as "stable" at all but that is a different story.

My analysis is that the Legacy. Kernel 4.4.x has a better drivers support (Sound, Wifi and bluetooth) but there is still some issues on graphic configuration and HDMI sound.

Kernel 5.4.x is booting very slowly but works well with less drivers support but there is major issue (for me) about panfrost driver that is why it is less usable...

I have updated my 4B with armbian-config today, and I think that now the temperature readings are wrong.
It's cold in here, the board is working for Rosetta, but before the update, it was running at full throttle at 42°C, and now it's written 83°C.
The big heatsink is cold, the fan is on. There's something fishy....

I've been trying rosetta on kernel 5.6 and 5.7 and it just seems like it overheats and drops dead pretty quick with rosetta.  showing those temps also   have you had much luck there?

I'm cranking CPU max back now to try again.

Im running the image of the orange pi 4 almost error-free on the 4b (to my server usecase requirements). Few relevant issues I observed so far:

- On kernel 4.x the board looses Ethernet connectivity when on heavy load: The scenario in which I observed it, was while running Syncthing, syncing 500GB on LAN = high CPU utilization, high USB-3 IO count to hard drive on USB-C,  and Ethernet at around 25Mb/s. Apart from that, the board was up for many days with no problem.

- On kernel 5.x, Ethernet seemed stable (after running iperf3 and transferring 50Gb at ~950Mbps smoothly). However, USB-C does not recognize my hard-drive. Strangely, another block device is recognized and installed as sda, but fails to initialize. I'm pretty sure the NPU unit is not installed nor supported yet, given that even the oficial images from orange-pi are starting to support it. (did not do the Syncthing test yet since I do not have USB-3 working).

 

I'm powering the 4B with the official 4A power supply over the jack connector. Assuming this is enough... 

 

Any tips on getting the USB-C (USB-3) working?

I'm cranking CPU max back now to try again.

Well, I have a big heatsink AND a fan running. Without the fan, the temperature goes quickly around 83/84°C. It does not hang up though.
These days, it runs around 53°C in the afternoon with a full Rosetta load.

Look like there is a limit to 1080p? (someone else also said) while on OP image i can  have 1440p (autodetected), and its pretty smooth. Can you fix this ?

I tested and didnt work. but it could be because of power problems or other problems...

That board doesnt have external power pins!!!
