Test version of images 20230622-legacy for star64.

Important. For the system to work correctly, you need to update the bootloader once. To do this, download the image from the link

 burn it to the SD card, connect it to Star64 and turn on the power, wait 2 minutes and turn off the power.

 

After that, you can write an ArmbianTV image to the SD card, connect it to Star64 and the system will start automatically. The next steps are usually the initial setup of Armbian. In versions with DE (IceWM XFCE). even video playback in the window works (fullscreen mode does not work) through the Parole player. Analog audio output is enabled by default, to switch to HDMI audio, use the settings via Volume Control as usual.

Version 20230628 is legacy. (lunar and sid)

Important. A significant change in the composition of the system, now it corresponds to a similar composition of other platforms. Added images with DE for Debian.

I checked the installation of the system in SD\eMMC + NVMe mode. The system works noticeably faster. For example, launching the LibreOffice Writer application takes only 3 seconds, which is very good for entry-level support. :)

ver 20230814-legacy the kernel configuration has changed - simultaneous operation of the standard HDMI output and an additional video card on the PCIe bus (NVIDIA) is supported.

Version 20230817-current with a 6.5 kernel in which HDMI works (partially). There is little practical use, because there is no USB and you cannot use a keyboard or mouse, but you can at least see the system startup process on the monitor screen. To display the color correctly, you need to remove two parameters at the end of the append (splash plymouth...) line in the /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf file

 

the practical benefits of output to the monitor, even if USB does not work) and there is no UART connection:

1. you can immediately see the IP address for SSH connection and system settings without accessing the router.

2. you can immediately see if there is a problem at startup, for example, an error mounting the root system, or a failure when starting a file system check (when the system is waiting for a reaction from the user)

Version 20230824-legacy with kernel 5.15.127.

Expanded the list of Wi-Fi modules (USB\PCIe).

Added DTB for models with 4 GB of RAM (for use on 4GB models - rename the DTB file or edit /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf with a 4 GB indication).

Check micro sd sandisk a1 which is recommend. Ok. Chceck integrity and sha its ok. Power is ok. Dietpi starts. I donthave uart debug cable. Should armbian img starts directly from micro sd? I download also noble 24.04 trunk and img from archive. I also download some old images from balbes yandex site. Still black screen.

Noting unusual as this hardware is community maintained. If nobody maintains it, it will stop working at one point. We provide images but these builds are provided by the Armbian project as a service to the community. Some HW works, some don't.

They are competing with us, but we don't compete with them. In past 10 years, since they start to use Armbian as their starting point of re-branding, there were few fixes (<5) from their side, but all were very carefully egoistic weighted even they had balls to come here and humiliate developers with demands to fix this and that for them (their users). So you can understand how they think ...

For this hardware you need to be a developer as support is immature. Whatever OS you will us. Its not just cable.

On yandex there are a lot of images made by Balbes. All of them dont works? Nobody check them? According to the topic some of them works . Maybe not with all devices or something like that. I cant even update bootloader. My star64 revision is 1.1. i dont suppose there are more revisions.

They may have been tests.  Or they could have worked at one time.  But Linux kernel (and other hardware) is always moving forward and everything needs constant maintenance.
