    Success!

Using a minimal distro and an SBC with min specs:

    + dual core @ 1.8 Ghz
    + DDR4

I was able to get 850+ Mbps firewall with QoS!

    Tested multiple methods:

    - integrated NIC + USB 3.0 Gigabit adapter
    - integrated NIC + PCI-e NIC
    - dual PCI-e NICs.

For under $50 and under 15W

Used this guide https://blog.tjll.net/building-my-perfect-router/ as a starting point. Used unbound for local dns reslover and a few other changes to traffic shaping and metrics; using prometheus and grafana

There's still room for improvement, get power under 10W and maybe closer to 5W-8W.
Lower cost if there was a board with integrated dual gigabit NICs !!

    Dear Igor,

I will try to establish an access point using hostapd directly instead of nmcli. I will also look at the armbian-config code. I will post the progress and maybe ask more. Thanx your prompt responses.

    downloaded from main downloads page.

But, anyway, after apt update / apt upgrade / reboot, I was able to change resolution without problems.

It's from the Cubietruck  but you need to reverse + and - on both connectors.

Most likely you should be able to boot OrangeOS from Armbian u-boot. Then you can skip flashing system to eMMC but boot from SD the same way as we boot Armbian from SD once new boot is on the eMMC. Sadly there seems like a lot of work (and we already struggle with regular maintenance) to merge yet another private fork into join rockchip64-default kernel.

Which is why sometimes just does't power on

It's important which u-boot you have on eMMC. If you used their tools, it gets overwritten. Xunlong's u-boot is not capable of such tricks. See:

Self-made image build right now: http://ix.io/1Jer HDMI is operational.

SATA port is operating normally (when detected):

Igor got a reaction from Werner in Adding Debian buster
I made several test builds and tests installs on Debian Buster and IMHO it is ready for user level/extended testing. Most interesting for us is that our modifications and things defined in armbian-config remain working. Most of them will, but some will fail ... I did install a desktop over Buster, it works, but haven't done many tests, hostapd works (but it throws out some errors that need to be examined, ...)

Ubuntu Disco is in a similar state. CLI works, desktop upgrade works, ...

How to extend this testing? Shell all nightly images only be Buster/Disco, most popular boards gets a CLI test version? Exotic ones? "Chosen" ones? Shell we unlock building but leave a mark "WIP" or something?

Igor got a reaction from Tido in Getting RTL8723BU 5G Wifi Working
You received valuable hints how to possibly solve this problem. Armbian gave you opportunity to install the driver (working kernel headers), but if the driver is broken or lack functionality you want, there is nothing folks around - a few people that make Linux running on those cheap boards possible - can do about. Solving your problem would costs perhaps a hundred hours, perhaps way more? Perhaps "just" ten, but I can only afford to blow few minutes. I have to remind you that overall contribution from your side to cover your questions is far below 1%. Any relevant response you get is pure gold.

A recommended way of solving the problem is actually the best, perhaps the only way, besides hiring people to do the homework instead of you.
