balbes150 got a reaction from armar in Armbian for TV box rk3328
Try to run the utility ddbr and create a full backup of the eMMC. If the utility can not read eMMC you need to deal with the parameters of DTB (which are responsible for eMMC).
no
It is similar, but different manufacturers can change the content (components) themselves.

balbes150 reacted to JMCC in [Development] RK3399 media script
Yes, it runs fulscreen with no mouse support. You can control it with a remote control via LIRC, or with the keyboard. Arrows, space, Q for quit and shift-Q for save position and quit. "man mpv" will give you the whole list of controls.
Well, the wrapper is a very basic implementation, meant to stop nodm, which is the default Armbian DM. If you are using lightdm instead, you must edit the file "/usr/local/bin/kodi-gbm-wrapper"
Or just do it manually: Ctrl+alt+F1, "sudo service lightdm stop", "kodi"

THE MEDIA SCRIPT IS DEPRECATED, IN FAVOR OF THE LEGACY MULTIMEDIA INTEGRATION. PLEASE REFER TO THIS TOPIC:
So finally we have the first version of:
The UN-official, UN-supported, etc...
RK3399 MEDIA TESTING SCRIPT
This is the first release of the RK3399 media testing script. The script provides a functionality similar to its RK3288 equivalent:
Installing all the libraries and system configurations necessary for GPU accelerated X desktop, Chromium WebGL, full VPU video play acceleration up to 4k@60 10-bit HEVC (the maximum supported by the SoC), and GLES 3.2 / OpenCL 1.2 support. Three video players supporting full VPU acceleration (RKMPP) and KMS display (GBM or a X11 DRM "hack", as described by the authors), namely: MPV, Gstreamer and Kodi. Two example programs using the OpenCL functionality: Examples form the Arm Compute Library, and a GPU crypto miner (an old version, but small and simple). A library that will act as an OpenGL to OpenGL-ES wrapper, allowing you to run programs that use OpenGL 1.5-2.0. Two additional features, that have no big interest from the Armbian development prospective, but I find them interesting to play with: Chromium browser with support for Flash and DRM-protected commercial web video streaming (tested with Amazon Prime, should also work with Netflix, Hulu, etc.), and a simple Pulseaudio GTK equalizer using LADSPA.
Here is a more thorough documentation:
>>> DOWNLOAD LINK <<<
Prerequisites:
You need a fresh Armbian Bionic desktop image with legacy kernel installed.
Instructions:
Download the file above Untar it: tar xvf media-rk3399_*.txz cd media-script ./media-rk3399.sh
Notes:
This script is not officially supported by the Armbian project. It is just a community effort to help the development of the main build, by experimenting with a possible implementation of the media capabilities of this particular SoC. Therefore, questions about the script should not be laid out as support requests, but as commentaries or community peer-to-peer assistance. That being said, all commentaries/suggestions/corrections are very welcome. In the same way, I will do my best to help solve any difficulty that may arise regarding the script.
Enjoy!

Привет, Балбес.
Do you have got a dtb file for the NanoPi M4 and/or RockPi4B? They've got working Armbian images. But would be cool to be able to use the same image on both boards.
I wished all images were like this. Then we would not need new images for different boards with simular SoC's.
Can this then also be done with the LibreElec image?
I tried downloading your LibreElec image for the Edge. Got this message 'Произошла ошибка'. I don't have an Edge, but still wanted to let you know.

balbes150 got a reaction from Nofan Tasi in The list of models that are running Armbian (Amlogic, Rockchip, Allwinner etc)
This theme is designed to help potential users with the selection of equipment to run Armbian on TV boxes and other devices with ARM chips. I propose to leave here information about specific models, with a description of the technical parameters of the equipment, which specific versions of Armbian images and what settings or additional steps have been launched.
Pay attention. In this thread are only a good or not run the system on specific models TV box. All discussions and questions, post in other topics.

balbes150 got a reaction from Tido in [RFC 001] Changes for boards and features implementing
Yes, this also happens to users (and quite often). When they run the update and as a result, some of the features they used are broken (you have to remove conflicting packages). They have to either write a bug report and wait for a fix, or roll back to previous, compatible versions of packages. When you manually update the system writes, if there are conflicts and the user decides what functions are important to him and how to do (what to remove and what to leave). In an automatic build, you cannot provide all the behaviors and always use the default.
It is possible you that the online repositories used in the build are usually in a stable state (already updated or not yet updated) when you run the build. That is, the time of the build system is well synchronized with the work of updates in network repositories.
IMHO I suggest for all versions of images where DE is used to use the standard approach from "adult" systems. The source image must use some kind of login Manager (for example, lightdm). This corresponds to the logic of safe operation and is a common (familiar) option for users moving from PC to ARM. The current state of Armbian and the hardware it runs on has already become quite Mature and capable of working on an equal footing with the PC. If the user wants to make a autologin or use "nodm" - he will do it yourself (good manuals for this is more than enough). In the server options of images, the default should not be any managers of the entrance.
In addition. I would put the u-boot Assembly in a separate process, with mandatory testing for the correctness of the assembled version on the intended devices. And only after that place the packages in the repository for Assembly by others or for use by users. U-boot is an important element for the safe use of the device (this is especially true for devices with built-in memory, where it is very difficult to fix not correctly recorded in memory u-boot).

balbes150 got a reaction from manuti in Armbian for TV box rk3328
Now launched Armbian on MVR9 (rk3328), desktop resolution 1920x1080 (so-called 1080p mode). 720p video is normally played in the window. I tried to fill the entire screen - does not fly, but watchable. Launch the browser with YouTube (in normal mode, the video window on the right, a list is available) - all video works without brakes. If you expand to full screen, artifacts slip through. Switched the resolution of the desktop to 720-all video goes to full screen without brakes and artifacts, almost like in LE. Notice that I reworked the body to improve cooling (drilled pen drill for door handle hole above the CPU and did a side slot for the free passage of air (but without fan). If you bring your hand to the hole, I feel like there is warm air from the body.
For information-the system is running with SD card and wired Gigabit network.
By the way, he was surprised that YouTube in the browser at the resolution of the desktop 720 and in the YouTube indicated to use 720, when displayed in full screen (all video options, not only 720) is no problem. But if you switch to YouTube to use 1080 artifacts have already appeared ...

I haven't checked in S805, but the S9xxx possible to install the system with the core 4.xx on eMMC in normal Linux partition mode. If you are using kernel 4.x, you can try the same option on s805. To use kernel 3.10, you need Android partitions of the correct size.Alternatively, you can try to change the installation script so that it places part of the data in different partitions (/dev/system and /dev/cache), preformatting them in ext4. and add new options to fstab to mount these partitions to new points
